ChristmasChristmasChristmasCHRISTMAS!

Dec 28, 2008 -- 520 Words -- personal, holidays -- 6 comments.

Haha, can you sense the chipper tone of this blog? It’s still hard for me to believe that the whole thing is done already. In a way though, I’m happy about it. It’s about time things calm down a little. Anyway, here’s how it went this year:

Christmas Eve: Treated parents to a movie. Went to the local theatre and saw Yes Man (the new Jim Carrey movie). Was certain that Katy Perry was his co-star, but turned out that it was an actress named Zooey Deschanel…

apparently I’m not the only one who made this mistake.

Christmas Day: Opened gifts at 8:00 in the morning. Dad was up at 4:00 and was acting more like a little kid than the rest of us. ^_^ Spent the rest of the day either cooking or watching Buffy.

Day before Party: Re-organized my room & got it back to Smithsonian status. Even my closet is orderly now. :)

Christmas Party: This happened two days after Christmas. Sister and family showed up, along with Uncle Jeff, Aunt Judy, Aunt Sybil & Darren. Had an enormous dinner, cleaned kitchen for Mom (whom was very close to speechless) then opened more gifts. Got treated to a mini-concert when Darren played us a song on the guitar. Family left first, then Darren left when he realized how out-of-it I was.

Not sure if it’s lame/tacky or not to post a goodies list, but I figure that it’s a personal blog… it should be okay, right?

From Parents

  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 3
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 4
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Season 7
  • Jeff Dunham Christmas Special: The Extended Version
  • Alaska Calendar
  • Spa Kit with tres’ awesome gel eye mask
  • Watership Down book
  • 8GB USB Stick
  • Twilight Official Soundtrack
  • Pen with Kitten carving on the end
  • Grim Reaper Oil Burner (a friend invented it… very awesome)
  • More chocolate than I can eat

From Sybil

  • Red jewelry box with purse handle

From Kristi, Ken & Kids

  • Mr. Fuzzy (magic trick caterpillar)
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer Seasons 5
  • Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 6
  • Mango Mandarin from Bath & Body
  • Gift card for Applebees (for me and Darren)

From Lisa

From Darren

  • A box of assorted chocolatey goodness
  • A stuffed bunny (aww)
  • Britney Spears—Circus
  • Brown fur-lined boots

So how was everyone elses Christmas! Did you see family? Get anything special you’ve been wanting? I’ll come back with an actual site update in a day or so. Until then, I’ll be in front of the magic box in my bedroom… oooh so shiny…. O_o

Merry Christmas!

I know it’s a little late in the evening, but I wanted to post this while it was still technically Christmas: a little gift for my affiliates!

Taylor Vs Michael… DING!

Dec 23, 2008 -- 377 Words -- twilight -- 6 comments.

Warning: I’m going Twilighter on you guys…

Soo, the New Moon movie project is already hitting a few snags. We have a new director to look forward to (whom I personally think will do a great job) but there’s something else new that everyone isn’t so happy about… a new Jacob Black.

Honestly, I am one of the people who thought (and to some degree, still thinks) that Jacob Black should be recast. He is supposed to age significantly during New Moon, and I am one of many who still thinks that Steven Strait should be given a shot with the part. However, we now have someone new stepping up to the plate, someone whom I don’t think realizes just how sensitive us Twihards are about our books (and movies!)

**EDIT**

Okay, so it’s been several days since I posted this, and I’ve had a chance to calm down a little about the topic. In the news I’ve been reading about facebook groups and polls that are flooding Copon’s personal webpages with flames and angry floods, which actually makes me sad considering the color it gives the entire fanbase. Yeah, from what I’ve read, I don’t like Copon for the role of Jacob. But let’s face it, the move is being considered because those responsible are trying to stay true to the book. In the book, Jacob ages. A lot. So anyway, I’ve edited this post and cut out the rant portions because I didn’t really like myself while I was reading the old post.

Yeah, I know I’m going soft lately. I’ve just always been one to preach that celebrities are just people who don’t deserve criticism for their personalities when the only thing we know about them is from a source like tv or magazines. While what we see may be right on the money, it may also be a bad first impression or even something completely different from what we perceive.

An added note, we all thought that the Dumbledore recast was going to suck, but then look how he turned out. Who knows, maybe Michael will surprise us…

I still want Steven Strait though. :(

It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas

Dec 20, 2008 -- 397 Words -- personal, site, holidays -- 7 comments.

Wow, so much has been going on this week! I guess Christmas Break is going to be more eventful and productive than I thought. I’m even starting to get that festive feeling, which is something I’ve missed out on over the past 2 or 3 years. ^_^

I’ve done a lot of work here, as you may have already noticed. I managed to upload the rest of the pages, so there are no more annoying “Under Construction” signs waiting to greet you when you click a link. I also added a contest to the resources section! Be sure to check it out & participate if you have the time. It will last until the end of January, which gives everyone plenty of time to enter.

The holiday chaos is almost over! Finally finished Christmas shopping (though I do have a few more small gifts to grab here and there) and all the presents are wrapped. We’re even cooking, which is apparently what it takes to get everyone around here in holiday mode. :D Our holiday party mix (lovingly nicknamed “trash”… lol) has already been significantly depleted. All that’s left is Darren’s red velvet cake, and our Christmas cookies (oatmeal scotchies) … great, now I’m hungry. :))

I’ve also been thinking about New Years resolutions. I know that no one ever follows through on them, but I’ve been wondering if I would stick to them if they were, say, posted publicly on my website? I guess we’ll see:

  1. Eat less and healthier (possibly cut out meat entirely)
  2. Write at least one blog entry a week
  3. Read a non-school book every week
  4. Get in awesome shape
  5. Save back enough money for a.) an apple notebook & b.) my own car
  6. Decide 100% for sure on a major this year

I’ll be back to add to this, I’m almost positive. I’m missing something… anyway, what is everyone else putting down for their resolutions? Are the rest of you as excited about the new year as I am?

By the way, I just wanted to give everyone whose comments haven’t been showing up for the past few days my apologies. Apparently any links written will trigger this thing to view comments as possible spam (not that I’m not grateful for the top-notch spam protection!) But anyway, I’ll keep a closer eye on my cpanel from now on.

Raindrops on roses…

Dec 15, 2008 -- 435 Words -- layout -- 14 comments.

Weeell? I told you all that I hated that other layout. XD I guess to most eyes this one just looks… weird. But that’s actually the whole point, if you think about it. Basically, this layout is me. Let me explain the hidden meanings here:

Combat Boots: Because I love punk/gothic fashion. (and my favorite boots look almost exactly like that pair. ^_^ )
Notebook: For several reasons. First reason: I love to write. Other reasons include my strange obsession with collecting notebooks, my fondness for doodling during lectures (lol, right Ryan? :D ) and absolutely FILLING UP a page full of pure uselessness.
Crystal Ball: I love absolutely anything having to do with magic and illusion. I chose the crystal because it reminded me of my favorite fantasy movie, The Labyrinth.
Skulls: Pirate reference. ’nuff said.
Rollercoaster: This is actually a reference to facing my fears. I was scared to death of that rollercoaster (known formally as the Borg Assimilator) until this summer. I finally made myself get back on it, and wonder of all wonders, they actually got me strapped in correctly this time! Loved it, wanna ride it again.
Las Vegas Sign: Sort of a nod to the biggest item on my bucket list: travel all over the world. I want to start with Vegas.
Polaroids: Photography has become somewhat of a hobby of mine over the past couple of years. The only problem is that I usually forget my camera and find myself facing a perfect photo opportunity with nothing to document it with. *sigh*
Book, Rose and Ring To be honest, I just thought this was pretty. But now that I look at it, the rose and the ring remind me of my boyfriend, Darren. We’ll just say that the book expresses my love for reading. Haha
Cds: Any and all music. I welcome it with open ears.
Apple: If you have to ask me what this symbolizes, I’ll have to smack you. Or bite you, rather.

Sigh. Now that it’s up, I have to focus on finishing the rest of the stuff on my site’s to-do list. Therefore, I’m still going to be updating like a madwoman. Thankfully, my school break is a long one. Right now though, I need pepsi. It might be a good idea to get out of my room and visit my family too… they don’t even know I’m awake. O_o

New Tutorial

Dec 13, 2008 -- 24 Words -- site -- 4 comments.

Just a little heads-up. I just posted a new tutorial in resources: Make Your Own Cullen!

Finally…

Dec 12, 2008 -- 383 Words -- personal, site -- 2 comments.

Here we go… brand new comment system. Ahh. Now I can start to have some fun again.

So I finished my biology 101 class today with an A average (94… pretty spiffy if you ask me) and I went home with a scheduled interview with XM Radio (whee!)

So… why do I feel so icky? Ugh… I always get like this after a semester ends. I make new friends, start to have a lot of fun, then *poof* all done! I will say that this semester was a defining one for me. I took a lot from it, even a final decision on my major: WRITING!!!

Speaking of writing, I was finishing my homework for philosophy the other day, and my fingers just could not stop typing. Anyway, I wound up with an update for Labyrinth Revisited and a pending update for my Twilight fanfic, Through Green Eyes. I know they’re just silly little fanfiction stories, but I’m really getting into the both of them. I’m also in the process of brainstorming a few ideas of my own. I’m not sure if I’m going to share any details just yet, but I will say that a few of them are fantasy/horror style. I’m very excited about them.

As for this place, I think I’m going to work mostly with tutorials from now on, with a few adoptables here and there. It will also largely work as a profile/personal site for me, meaning that I might decide to do away with my facebook and myspace pages. Yeah, It’s time…

And I just want to say, for the record, that all of my affiliates have been so awesome, especially over the last few weeks. I’ll be posting the updated affie list on Monday, so for a few of you this may be your last chance to make the final list! I hate to be so picky but I do need to narrow the list down to just those who are serious about affiliation and not just link exchange. After this, I may make it invitation only. I’m almost 100% sure of that.

Hugs, love and hersheys!
